Our sources
We prefer primary sources and say where each fact comes from.
- Growing data (soak times, days to harvest, yield): Sprouting.com product pages first, checked against grower and university seeding charts.
- Nutrition: USDA FoodData Central and peer-reviewed studies, cited on the page.
- Food safety: the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Health Canada. Where their advice differs, we state both.
- Health topics: peer-reviewed research and established references such as Memorial Sloan Kettering's About Herbs database and the U.S. National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.
Every health or nutrition claim links to a source in a numbered note at the end of the page.
How we write about health
- We don't promise cures or treatments.
- We say when evidence comes from lab or animal studies rather than people.
- We include safety notes for higher-risk groups on every relevant page.
- Our content is general information, not medical advice. See our disclaimer.
How pages are written
Guides are researched against the sources above and written in plain language, with the key facts checked against their sources.
Product recommendations
We link to seeds and supplies from Sprouting.com and earn a commission on sales. Recommendations are based on what suits the task, such as seed sold for sprouting or the right tray size, not on commission. We don't show prices because they change. See our affiliate disclosure.
Updates and corrections
Each page shows the date it was last updated. We review guides when sources change, and we fix errors as soon as we learn about them. If you spot a mistake, please contact us.
No reviews or testimonials we didn't receive
We don't publish made-up reviews, testimonials or personal anecdotes. If a page describes what to expect, it's based on the sources cited.
